If the Afghanis are fleeing war etc etc ( which they aren't) why not stay in the first European country they reach and claim asylum there?

68 today another 30 tomorrow and so it goes on and on and in the meantime the 2 pregnant ladies are in hospital where they will need translators which is another cost for the poor old tax payer oh and then they will need to be housed and their kids educated oh and then they get more of their relatives to come over because they are entitled to a family life.
So I really don't know what I am complaining about.

H&P it's not the people travelling here that's the problem, far from it.
It's the Governments of all affected countries and their inability to do anything about the situation in the poorer countries.
I'd pay extra tax to see it end up in a poorer country enabling the people to stay in the familiarity of their own land with prospects etc but it will never happen as their own govt will spunk the lot on themselves, palaces of gold and guns.

See, they come because the UK has one of the world's most dynamic economies - that means people will pay them to work here when that won't happen in a lot of other places.
See, this means the UK is doing well. The fact that you are so upset about it has nothing to do with society or economics as you'd like to think we believe.
